Joint operations

Today minimally invasive operating methods using optics with high resolution are standard for clinics performing surgeries not only in human medicine, but also in animal medicine.

In our clinic, we have been performing minimally invasive joint operations for more than 10 years. Recently the arthroscopic knee joint operation, which we cannot imagine our work without today, was introduced at the Veterinary Clinic Stuttgart.

The whole joint can be visualized in a unique manner through an access point about 2.5 mm in size, into which high-resolution optics are inserted through a working channel.

Advantages of arthroscopy:

  • Magnifying wide-angle optics with high resolution that we use enables a brilliant view of all the areas of the joint, better than by traditional opening of the joint.
  • Irrespective of the diagnosis, the trauma and the pain are minimum, and the recovery time after arthroscopic operations is significantly shorter compared to the traditional joint opening.
  • Numerous studies confirm that the postoperative formation of arthrosis after minimally invasive joint operations is significantly lower than after traditional methods.
  • This is also the case for diagnostic and operative techniques in the abdominal cavity (laparoscopy).
