Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is a specific and sophisticated type of wound treatment in cases of
- large, ulcerated skin infections (even in cases of multiresistant germs)
- chronic ulcerations with wound healing deficiencies
- acute large lesions, where a classical surgical intervention is impossible
Wound healing and cleaning gets improved by the occlusion of the lesion with a simultaneous drainage for wound secretion, infectious material and blood, where the negative pressure is accomplished via a constant suction by a mobile pumping system.
